I am not fixed on a particular medium but work generally with photography and sculpture. While my photographs are a direct response to my experience of being out bush, my sculptural works are more a translation of that experience into form. I navigate between natural and cultural forms that interest me. They can be perceived as both isolations and enlargements of particular appearances. Set between the visible and the imaginary, they create certain tensions between organisms and abstract or architectural structures, remaining open to an infinite net of interpretations.
In 2015-16 I lived and worked in Hong Kong for 5 months. While I continued to work on photographic series I thought that I should use this time to challenge myself, change my methodology, learn something new so I began to work with bamboo and also ceramics which opened a world of exciting possibilities.
